At John C. Hadjipateras & Sons Ltd., we utilise decades of experience and valuable connections across the global maritime community, particularly in the United Kingdom and Greece, to provide reliable, informed, value-added commercial shipmanagement support to customers worldwide. We take pride in always operating vessels that command a premium, both in the chartering and Sale & Purchase markets, whatever the prevailing market conditions are.
Bespoke charterparty arrangements
As a long-established agency, we have forged strong links with most major charterers and operators. With particular emphasis on grain trading, over the years we have built a dependable name as grain clean traders, able to transport clean cargoes without any of the hassle and uncertainty that is often associated with specific ports. Each charterparty is unique and is therefore negotiated with the utmost care and attention to detail.
In-house Sale and Purchase Department
Our in-house Sale & Purchase Department and Chartering Department always carry out their functions strictly in accordance with the Baltic Code. We have dealt directly with first class shipyards and equipment manufacturers worldwide for our principals’ new building projects. We have also built up good relationships with many of the best broking houses, which allows us to find the most suitable candidates for secondhand purchases and to ensure the most appropriate counter-party for any sale.
Beneficial Insurances
We have maintained long-standing relationships within the insurance market, placing Hull and Machinery (H&M) insurances through reputable London brokers, with security from Lloyd’s syndicates and major international underwriters.
We continue to place all Protection and Indemnity (P&I) and Freight, Demurrage and Defence (FD&D) insurances with the West of England P&I Club, having been members since the early 1900s. For both H&M and P&I insurances, we have maintained a very impressive claims ratio, one of the best in the market, providing significant benefits to our principals. As well as this, we have been placing War Risks Insurance exclusively with the Hellenic War Risks Club since its inception.
We are approved by the Financial Conduct Authority.
For our customers worldwide, we provide the full range of commercial shipmanagement services from our London headquarters.
Careful management of costs
We have always maintained a transparent hands-on approach to managing the Daily Running Costs (DRCs) of vessels. The understanding that each component of the DRCs must be treated in context, whilst looking at the greater good of the vessel as a whole, has enabled us to optimise cost efficiencies. Cost efficiency, rather than cost-saving takes precedent above all else.
Diligent preventative maintenance ensures that the vessel and her crew are ready at all times to deal with on board issues that arise, often without the need for outside technicians’ involvement. Monitoring of on board maintenance and tight control of vessels’ inventories is supported through regular visits by shore personnel. Our low off-hire record has shown that this approach works well in the long-term, and allows for efficient dry-dock management and planning.
Careful scrutiny of all aspects of DRCs is conducted on a continuous basis and this is where our strong link between ship and shore can be seen most predominantly. As a consequence, we have continuously kept our on board DRCs below industry standards, whilst never compromising on our core values.
Financial Services
Having accumulated a vast amount of experience over the decades in dealing directly with financial institutions and their shipping requirements, we understand what matters most in managing shipping assets. Historically, we have focused on traditional bank finance, but we appreciate that this environment is changing and have adapted accordingly. With sound knowledge and insight into the broad range of new and innovative ways to raise ship finance, we are well placed to offer advice and execute deals through our wide network in the financial markets.
We have an open book policy of accounting, ensuring trust and transparency at all times. Regular reporting and access to information is facilitated via our online portal.
