Alongside working with various principals, John C. Hadjipateras & Sons Ltd. has been the exclusive London agents for the reputable Greek Shipmanager, Archipelago Shipping S.A. (Archipelago) since their incorporation in Piraeus in 1969. To this day, we share a rich history and a wealth of experience which we are able to leverage for the benefit of our customers, partners, staff and the wider maritime community.
Archipelago has developed an expertise in the technical management of dry bulk carriers, being responsible for the safe operation of over 20 vessels. Their experienced team ensure that our in-house, ABS-approved Safety Management System, incorporating the ISM and ISPS Codes and the stringent Safety and Environmental Policy, is enforced effectively and efficiently.
Having had a small turnover of shore-based staff has generated vast experience and provided stability for both companies. Most of the Port Captains and Marine/Technical Superintendent Engineers have previously served on board managed vessels, some from the rank of cadet through to Master/Chief Engineer. The crew on board the ships are provided with technical and pastoral support, creating a pleasant and productive working environment ashore and on board which both companies have fostered over generations. This formula enhances the strong link between ship and shore.
For the benefit of all our principals, we often draw upon Archipelago’s pool of well-trained, high quality and motivated crew members, made up of Masters, Chief Engineers, senior and junior officers and, in cooperation with first class crewing agents, junior officers and ratings.
Archipelago is a member of the Union of Greek Ship Owners (UGS), the Cyprus Union of Shipowners (CUS) and is a founding member of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA).
