At John C. Hadjipateras & Sons Ltd., our team is the key to our success. As a company we have benefitted from a very low turnover of staff during our seven decades in operation, with many staff serving the company for more than 30 years. The retention of key staff for long periods has provided stability and a solid link between ship and shore.
Senior Management Team
John C. Hadjipateras (1888 – 1979)
Captain John is the founder of John C. Hadjipateras & Sons Ltd. He was a Director until his death in 1979. After World War II Captain John lived in New York and Montreal before relocating with his family to London, which was then the heart of the shipping industry. He was highly respected by both the British and Greek shipping communities for his wisdom and counsel. Having lived through two World Wars, his calm demeanor earned him recognition from his peers.
Costas J. Hadjipateras (1920 – 2000)
The eldest son of Captain John, Costas studied law in Greece and was involved in the company from its inception. He was the Managing Director as well as the Chartering Director for many years. He also served on the West of England P&I Club Board of Directors as well as being a Representative of the Baltic Exchange. He continued to be active in the company until his death in 2000.
Marcos J. Hadjipateras
Marcos graduated from Warsash Maritime Academy and was instrumental in the opening of JCH & Sons in 1952. He has been actively involved in the Company ever since. He has a vast experience of commercial matters, whilst also having focused on the day-to-day operational elements. He remains a non-executive Director for the company, providing us with decades of expertise.
Nicolas J. Hadjipateras (1932-2011)
Nicolas joined the company after obtaining two University degrees in Canada in 1957. He took over the Chartering Department from Costas and was also a director of the company. He was also a Council Member of the GSCC and a representative of the Baltic Exchange. He remained active in the company until his death in 2011.
Pantelis J. Hadjipateras
Although no longer officially a Director, Pantelis served the Company for over 50 years, and continues to offer his advice and counsel from his wealth of experience. He headed up the Operations, Technical and Insurance Departments during his time with the company, dealing with shipbuilders and agents around the world, with his direct and hands-on approach.
