John M. Hadjipateras joined the company in London as a Trainee Superintendent Engineer in 1993. With the introduction of the International Safety Management (ISM) Code in 1997, John M. was appointed Technical Superintendent Engineer and Deputy Designated Person Ashore (DPA), before assuming the position of Technical Director in 2010.
John M. has a wealth of experience in all aspects of commercial and technical shipmanagement, newbuilding consultancy and brokerage, and is actively involved in a number of trade and industry committees. He has been elected to the Council of the Greek Shipping Co-operation Committee (GSCC) since 2002 and is also the GSCC’s representative on Lloyd’s Register’s Technical Committee. Since its inception in 2012, John M. has also served on Lloyd’s Register’s UK Marine Advisory Committee. He was elected to the board of The Baltic Exchange Ltd by the membership as a Ballot Director in 2016. Following the acquisition of the Baltic Exchange by SGX, he served on the Baltic Exchange Council until the end of 2018, and presently serves on the Baltic Exchange Membership Council.
John M. is also a member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (UK) and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (US) and is a certified Maritime Internal Auditor for the ISM Code. He has a BEng in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from University College London and an MSc in Shipping, Trade and Finance at City University.
